PARIS, Sept 22 (AFP): Jean Petit's first match in charge as caretaker manager of Monaco proved an eventful affair Wednesday with two men sent off in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Troyes. Petit stepped in as stand-in coach of misfiring Monaco Monday after Didier Deschamps stood down following Sunday's 2-0 loss to Rennes at the weekend. And the 2004 Champions League finalists were staring at their fifth defeat of the season when Troyes took the lead with a Sebastien Grax goal after the half hour mark. But three minutes after Eric Cubilier was sent off for a second bookable offence Emmanuel Adebayor equalised. Monaco were down a second man when Lopez Gerard picked up a second yellow before defender Gael Givet saved the day with a 76th minute winner. The result gave Monaco a much needed lift, pushing them three points above the relegation zone. Petit, who reaffirmed his intention to remain as boss until a full-time successor to Deschamps was found, added: "We can only start talking about an end to the crisis if we produce the same level of results in our next games against Nice Saturday, against Willem II (in the UEFA Cup) and at Lille."
