Railway begins transportation of fuel

12/23/2005

Bangladesh Railway has begun transportation of fuel oil through the Jamuna Bridge by tank wagons directly from Chittagong's Guptakhal depot to northern region's Parbatipur junction oil depot. The first fuel oil-carrying train, comprising 24 tank wagons, reached Parbatipur at 11:50am on December 21 that departed from Chittagong at 12:20am a day back. Earlier, waterways were used to carry fuel oil from Chittagong to Daulatpur oil depot. From there, railway wagon tankers used to transport fuel oil to Parbatipur. Railway sources said introduction of oil career train directly from Chittagong through the Jamuna Bridge would ease oil transportation to the western region of the country. — BSS
