Stock markets bounce back
FE Report
12/29/2005

The country's stock markets bounced back Wednesday posting moderate gains after consecutive fall in the past several sessions, market sources said.
Dealers said majority of shares gained in both the bourses on the last trading day of the week as the investors purchased shares taking advantage of the price fall of stocks in the previous sessions.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) benchmark index advanced 12.16 points or 0.73 per cent to close at 1663.39, while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) benchmark index gained 20.40 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 3363.16.
The DSE blue-chip index - the DSE-20 - gained 10.28 points or 0.64 per cent to close at 1595.10, while the CSE blue-chip index - the CSE-30 - advanced 31.99 points or 1.03 per cent to close at 3127.55.
The investors were selling shares over the past several sessions for cash to cover expenses for the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha, dealers said. But the investors returned for bargain hunting, they added.
