JS body asks for reopening N Bengal Paper Mill

12/30/2005

A parliamentary watchdog body has asked the authorities concerned, including the Industries Ministry, to take necessary steps for reopening the North Bengal Paper Mill.
The directive came from the 27th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industries Ministry held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city Thursday, reports UNB.
According to the meeting, there are adequate stocks of fertiliser in government godowns and necessary steps have been taken to supply it to the farmers as per their demand.
Committee chairman Mahmudul presided over the meeting.
The meeting said there is no possibility of fertiliser crisis in the country because of official initiatives taken to import fertiliser from abroad to meet its deficit.
The government has also taken steps to make fertiliser available to the growers at fair prices by providing subsidy to the fertiliser importers.
