Sunny on 116-day remand in 19 cases

Military commander of the Islamist outfit JMB Ataur Rahman Sunny was taken on a 116-day remand in 19 cases for interrogation, report agencies.
Sunny was shown arrested in 15 cases filed in different police stations in the Dhaka Metropolis for bomb explosions on August 17.
Sunny would be interrogated in different phases, RAB sources said.
After granting remand, Sunny was taken to the RAB-3 office for quizzing in an arms case filed with the Sabujbagh Thana.
Meanwhile, supremo of banned Hurkatul Jihad al Islami-Bangladesh (HuJI-B) Mufti Mohammad Abdul Hannan and son-in-law of JMB Abdul Awal were taken on separate five-day fresh remand while treasurer of JMB Fariduddin was taken on a four-day remand.
In Moulvibazar, a madrasah teacher, suspected to have links with JMB, was arrested in sadar upazila Thursday.
The arrested man was identified as Kamal Uddin, teacher of Katarai Madrasah in the upazila.
During his initial interrogation, Kamal confessed to his involvement in the August 17 serial bombings in the Kusumbag area of Moulvibazar.
In Faridpur, another madrasah teacher, who looks like JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, was detained in Alfadanga upazila Thursday noon.
Alfadanga police held Hafez Shamsul Haque Munir, 38, a teacher of Bagdanga Hafezia Madrasah in Boalmari upazila, while he was wandering at the upazila market at noon.
Soon after his capture, a rumour ran across the district that Abdur Rahman was arrested from Alfadanga upazila.
