DCC floats re-tender for 4 cattle mkts

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Thursday floated re-tender for four cattle markets in the city following allegations of manipulating the bid by ruling party men. These are Nayabazar, Uttara, Agargaon and Sun Rise Club in Shahjahanpur. The DCC floated tender seeking bids from interested persons and organisations for taking lease of the cattle markets during the Eid-ul Azha. Earlier, ruling party men got the lease of these cattle markets allegedly by manipulating the bidding process. —BDNEWS
Two top cops sent into forced retirement
The government has sent two top police officials on forced retirement in "public interest" as they have completed 25 years in their jobs, said a handout. The police officers are Deputy Inspector General of Police (current duty) M Aminul Islam and Assistant IGP Abul Kashem Ferdous. — UNB
Dhaka-Joydevpur dual gauge railway work to start next week
Work on the Dhaka-Joydevpur 35-km dual gauge railway project, aiming to improve train services with the capital and the railway's eastern and western zones, starts next week. This was disclosed at a meeting at Rail Bhaban with Communications Minister Nazmul Huda in the chair Thursday. The meeting was informed that the project involving Tk 3.17 billion will be implemented on a priority basis within the tenure of the present government. —UNB
