Eviction of illegal structures on Shitalakhya banks begins Jan 1

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) will start eviction of illegal constructions on the banks of river Shitalakhya from January 1 next year.
In a meeting of the taskforce formed for river retrieval on December 18 Shipping Minister Akbar Hossain instructed the BIWTA to conduct the eviction drive.
BIWTA listed 393 illegal constructions on the banks of river Shitalakhya. Fourty-four constructions will be evicted in the first phase.
A notice has been served in this connection to the land grabbers who made illegal constructions.
