JMB threatens to kill Barisal speedy trial tribunal PP

BARISAL, Jan 21 (Agencies): Banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen (JMB) members have threatened the Special PP of Barisal district speedy trial tribunal Mujibar Rahman with death.
The threat was issued in a letter, which he received Sunday noon.
The Special PP verbally informed this to the deputy commissioner and police superintendent. In the letter the JMB men alleged that the Special PP was threatened as he is dealing a false case.
Mujibar Rahman also received another similar threat letter on December 13 last year.
The Special PP is dealing the case of murder of two judges in Jhalakathi in bomb explosions. JMB leader Siddiqul Islam (Bangla Bhai), Ataur Rahman Sunny, Ghatak Mamun, Sultan, Awal, Molla Omar and Amjad are accused in the case.
Meanwhile, three bomb-like devices were found near an office situated close to the airport in the city Sunday morning.
Police said security guards of Civil Aviation department found the objects near a ditch and informed Director of Zia International Airport Wing Commander M Humayun Kabir about the find.
On information, Airport police and bomb experts of the Rapid Action Battalion rushed to the spot, recovered the devices and doused those under water in a bucket.
The bomb experts were yet to confirm those as bombs. The devices were taken to RAB headquarters for examination
However, RAB submitted charge sheet against two JMB leaders, but acquitted six other in Pahartali thana arms case in Chittagong.
Those acquitted include, JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai and military commander Ataur Rahman Sunny.
The Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, where the charge sheet has been submitted on Saturday by RAB-7, Sunday ordered to send the charge sheet to Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court.
Later, the charge sheet has been listed for Monday to be presented before the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court.
RAB recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunitions from the port city's Kathtuli area under Pahartali thana on December 13 last year and arrested JMB Chittagong Divisional Commander Mohammad alias Javed Iqbal.
RAB submitted charge sheet against JMB Chittagong Divisional Commander Mohammad alias Javed Iqbal and Cox's Bazar District JMB Commander Naimuzzaman alias Jafar, acquitting the six others.
