A two-day exhibition on visual art entitled 'Ampart', organised by Benson & Hedges, started Thursday at the Emanuelles Restaurant at Gulshan-2 in the city.
The Ampart is a part of the Benson & Hedges plan to help establish a platform for promising artists of Bangladesh to grow, express themselves and display their creativity.
The principal target of the talent search is to offer junior artists the opportunity to work closely with a senior artist to create art and then they will be given the platform to display their creations.
The first Ampart kicked off under the mentorship of country's noted artist Murtaja Baseer.
After selecting 11 promising artists from the Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University (DU) through an application process, he led them through a 10-day learning session at BRAC Centre for Development and Management at Rajendrapur between February 10 and 19.
Murtaja Baseer, however, himself created five oil-on-canvas renditions of his legendary "Wings" series for Ampart.
Meanwhile, within the 10-day work, the 11 junior artists completed art of 60 pictures for display at the direction of Baseer.
The organisers of Ampart told a pre-exhibition press conference that they would organise such kind of art programmes in future also.
Marketing Head of the British American Tobacco Bangladesh Rashed Ahmed while addressing the press conference said, "We want to provide artists with equal learning opportunities".
