Terrorism returns as top risk to US economy

3/15/2006

WASHINGTON, Mar 14 (AFP): Terrorism has moved above energy prices as the top risk to the US economy, a survey of business economists showed yesterday.
The survey by the National Association of Business Economists (NABE) showed 26 per cent of the 192 economists surveyed placed terrorism as the major short-term worry for the economy, up from 20 per cent in a September survey.
The fear about terrorism was the highest in the NABE survey since August 2004, when 40 per cent cited it as the leading risk.
