3/29/2006

President Iajuddin Ahmed emphasised Tuesday the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Algeria in agriculture, trade and rural development, reports UNB.
The President pointed this out when newly appointed Algerian Ambassador in Bangladesh Larbaoui Nadir presented his credentials to him at the Bangabhaban.
Welcoming the Algerian envoy, based in Islamabad, Iajuddin stressed the need for exploring full potential in bilateral relations between the two countries, exchange of expertise and technical know-how.
The President said that Bangladesh and Algeria enjoy a shared perception on many global issues, particularly global peace and stability.
He enquired about the progress of the Algeria's peace plan for national reconciliation. He mentioned the contributions of Bangladesh troops in UN peacekeeping missions, particularly in Africa.
The President conveyed his regards and complements to the President of Algeria Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The Algerian envoy said the relation between Bangladesh and Algeria is excellent. He emphasised visits of business leaders between the countries for promotion of trade, and praised the quality of Bangladeshi products, including garments.
Earlier on his arrival at the Bangabhaban, the ambassador was given a guard of honour by the President's Guard Regiment (PGR). He took salute and inspected the parade.
