BWDB initiates 64 advance level training programmes for 2005-06

The Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has undertaken a total of 64 advanced level training programmes of capacity building for all its engineers and officers for better environmental management of water resources in the country, reports BSS.
The BWDB sources told the news agency Wednesday that the topics of the training programmes included WDB rules of procedure-2003, National Water Policy, Human Resource Development (HRD) and National Water Management Plan.
AKM Sayeed Uddin, chief of Training and Staff Development of BWDB, said, "We have successfully completed a total of nine training courses out of 64 training programmes fulfilling the objectives with higher degree of satisfaction in improving the skills of our engineers and officials".
The main objective of the training initiatives is to upgrade the National Water Management Plan as well as enhancing the environmental management of water resources of the country, he added.
Encouraged by the success of development skills of the officials, the authorities have plan to enhance the capacity of three training centres equipping those with advanced level training facilities, he said.
Three training centres in the country - Bhagyakul Training centre, Irrigation Exte\nsion Training centre and Captai Engineering Academy - are providing skill development training under the Bangladesh Water Development Board Training Institute, a wing of the board.
The trainees are getting knowledge about induction training, basic knowledge on computer, basic hydrology and data collection, environmental and social impact assessment, water management for rice production and quality control.
