BNP factional clash leaves 30 injured

JHENIDAH, Oct 15 (UNB): At least 30 people were injured in a violent clash between two factions of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at Hiradanga village in Sadar Upazila Friday.
Local people said the clash erupted in the morning between the supporters of local BNP leader Nazmul Hossain and Firoj Ahmed over establishing supremacy in the area, leaving 30 people injured from both sides.
The feuding groups equipped with ram dao (billhooks), ballam (spears) and other lethal weapons attacked each other during the hour-long clash.
Of the injured, nine people including Firoj Ahmed were admitted to Sadar hospital while the others were released after first aid. A tense situation was prevailing in the area.
