German SPD chief eyes subsidy for older workers

11/1/2005

BERLIN, Oct 31 (Reuters): Germany could introduce subsidies for firms taking on older unemployed people under measures being considered by the country's two largest parties, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) chairman said in an newspaper interview.
The conservatives of chancellor designate Angela Merkel and the SPD of outgoing German leader Gerhard Schroeder are in talks designed to form a power-sharing coalition that they hope will be in place by the end of November.
