11/1/2005

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) XI moved into the final of the Grand Royal Challenge Football tournament with a 2-0 victory over India U-20 in their group's last match at National Football Training Centre in Yangon Monday, reports BDNEWS.
Khanchan and Farhad scored one each for the BFF XI.
Bangladesh's final berth was confirmed when the day's second match between Myanmar U-23 and China U-23 ended to a goalless draw, according to a message received here.
Now, the group leaders Myanmar U-23, seven points from three matches, and runners-up Bangladesh, six points from same number of outings, will play the final, billed for Wednesday.
The China U-23 and India U-20 teams finished the four-nation tournament with third and fourth places respectively.
In the day's first match, Bangladesh went ahead in the very tenth minute with a Khanchan's goal after India missed the penalty kick after five minutes. Khanchan also scored a goal against China in the first match.
After taking the first-half lead, Bangladesh sealed the victory off eight minutes from time when Farhad converted the penalty kick. It is striker Farhad who scored in every match to raise his tally four goals.
In the second match, China, who need at least 3-0 win over Myanmar to overtake Bangladesh for the final berth, made a goalless draw to confirm Bangladesh's final berth.
After losing to Myanmar in their second match, Bangladesh fell into hard situation of do or die match against India to confirm their final berths as both Bangladesh and China have every chance to move into final with a victory.
