Price indices rise at bourses

Price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed higher Monday, as the gaining issues outplayed the losing ones. The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, however decreased on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1285.56 points, registering 12.02 points or 0.94 per cent gain from 1273.54 points of Sunday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index increased by 15.34 points or 0.91 per cent to close at 1694.62 points from 1679.28 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index remained unchanged at 1668.02 points.
About 2.73 million shares and debentures worth Tk 207.74 million changed hands on the day against 2.83 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 225.52 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 159 issues were traded on the day including 109 gainers, 32 losers and 18 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 227.66 billion from Tk 225.66 billion.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose on the day, as the gainers overwhelmed the losers.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, also went up on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index moved up by 0.88 per cent to finish at 3410.21 points from 3380.30 points of Sunday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index gained by 1.04 per cent to close at 3224.12 points from 3190.92 points.
