11/9/2005
COLOMBO, Nov 8 (AFP): The Sri Lankan government announced Tuesday that all International Cricket Council (ICC) events held in this cricket-mad island will be given total tax exemptions. Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama said the concession would start with the under-19 World Cup in February next year. "I propose to grant tax exemptions for all ICC international events," Amunugama told parliament while unveiling the national budget for 2006. Sri Lanka will be hosting the youth world cup for the second time. India emerged victorious in the 2000 event held here, beating the hosts in the final.
