DBBL's smile-brighter pogramme starts at Dinajpur

The 'Smile-Brighter' programme of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) began at Dinajpur recently.
DBBL organised its second-phase plastic surgery operations at the bank's own cost at Dinajpur town for the poor cleft-lipped boys and girls to bring back the endearing smile on their faces.
The operations were performed at BRAC Su-Sastha Centre on November 15, 2005. A plastic surgery team consisting of eight members headed by Dr AJM Salek conducted the programme.
About 60 cleft-lipped boys and girls have been operated upon under this programme. Earlier, another 60 cleft-lipped boys and girls of this locality were operated upon in the first phase of the programme in September, 2005.
Dr Salek, head of Plastic Surgery Department, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Anita Bell of Stella Medical Services, and Dr Mozammel Hossain Khan, DBBL medical consultant, were present on the occasion.
