Iranian trade fair begins tomorrow

A four-day Iran Expo 2005 begins in the city tomorrow (Tuesday) at a city hotel aiming to strengthen the bilateral trading relationship between the two countries.
Iranian Emporium will sponsor the exposition from November 22 to 25, with the cooperation of Iranian Embassy.
Commerce minister Altaf Hossain Choudhury is expected to inaugurate the trade fair as the chief guest.
Addressing a press conference, at a city hotel Sunday, Iranian Ambassador Bersti said the exhibition would pave the way for establishing joint venture investment. It will also help expand the trade ties between the two countries.
Replying to a question, he said the annual trade volume between the two countries is worth about $ 60 million.
Iran will expand its trading in Bangladesh through launching trade operation with six local brand products within a short time, the envoy said.
Some 17 Iranian companies will take part in the fair.
The exposition will display bitumen, float glass, textile garments, leather goods and carpets.
The companies include Ayegh Isfahan Corporation, Esfahan Glass Ind., Iman Tejarate Roshan, Iranol, Iran Non-government Export Development Fund Textile etc.
The exposition will remain open for all from 10am to 8pm.
Sources concerned said, during the last fiscal the export volume from Bangladesh was $ 48.73 million compared to $ 30.97 million in 1994-95 fiscal.
Besides, the country has imported worth about $ 23.62 million in 2004-2005 fiscal followed by $ 5.47 million in 1994-94 fiscal.
Bangladesh is exporting jute, yarn, manufactured jute products, bags, woven garments, tea, raw jute and pharmaceuticals.
The products being imported from Iran include textile products, mineral products, base metal and chemicals.
Trade balance is in favor of Bangladesh, which is $ 25.11 million in 2004-05 fiscal, according to sources.
Iranian Embassy second secretary Berangi and MIEC manager Khaicsar, among others, spoke on the occasion.
