HC fixes Nov 23 for hearing

The High Court (HC) fixed Sunday November 23 for hearing a corruption cases filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in purchasing Mig-29s, reports BDNEWS.
After hearing a time petition filed on behalf of Leader of the Opposition and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, a Division Bench of the HC comprising Justice Sharifuddin Chaklader and Justice AFM Ali Asgar fixed the date.
The corruption cases in connection with purchasing of Mig-29s was filed against Sheikh Hasina and others, including SA Samad, the then principal secretary to the PM, with Tejgaon police station on December 11, 2001.
In the statement of the case, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others were accused of causing a loss of Tk 7.20 billion (720 crore) in purchasing Mig-29s while they were in power.
Rokanuddin Mahmud, Mahbubey Alam, Awsafur Rahman and Mesbauddin Ahmed moved the petitioner for the accused before the court.
