Pourasabha polls begin today

The first round of pourasabha elections begin today (Wednesday). Out of 116 pourasabha polls across the country, voting will take place in 36 pourasabha on the first day. The polls will continue till May 10 during which elections in 22 pourasabhas will be held on May 6, 24 pourasabhas on May 8, 15 pourasabhas on May 9 and 19 pourasabhas on May 10. All election materials, including ballot papers, seal, indelible ink, have already been sent to the respective election authorities. According to a Home Ministry decision, a large number of police, BDR, Ansar and intelligence agency personnel would be deployed in all sensitive polling centres. — BSS
