Three BRAC workers held for torturing loan recipients

          KHULNA, Jan 20, (UNB): The police Thursday night arrested three employees of BRAC here on charge of confining two of their loan recipients.
The arrested were identified as Ajoy Kumar, manager of Batiaghata Upazila branch of BRAC and two workers--Aminul Islam and Raushan Ara. The police said Raushan Ara on instructions of Ajoy Kumar on Jan 16 got hold of two loan defaulters--Jinnatun Nesa (22) from Harintana village and Motaleb Sheikh from Kawabangla village-and confined them at Batiaghata Upazila BRAC office.
It was alleged that the BRAC workers perpetrated inhuman torture on the two loan recipients in the last four days till Thursday to realise the money from them.
Being informed by the family members, the police Thursday night raided the BRAC office and arrested the three BRAC workers and rescued the two alleged loan defaulters.
The three BRAC workers were sent to jail hajat after a case was filed against them with the local police station.
Jinnatun Nesa owes Tk 4000 to BRAC while Motaleb Tk 3,500.
