Javed achieves feat hitting third ton for Dhaka
11/28/2005

After narrowly missing two centuries in both the innings of first round four-dayer of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 7th National Cricket League, national opener Javed Omar achieved the feat hitting league's third century for Dhaka against Barisal at Dhanmondi Stadium Sunday, reports BDNEWS.
Javed Omar, who made 87 and 92 in both the innings respectively of first four-dayer against Sylhet, scored 106 runs off 162 balls featuring 16 fours and one six.
Earlier, Chittagonion Nafis Iqbal (100) and Rajshahian Anisur Rahman (108) hit centuries separately.
Barisal scored 35 for one in seven overs at stump after restricting Dhaka for 331 for all in 80.3 overs on the first-day of the four-dayer match.
Conceding a shocked-defeat in the one-dayer to Rajshahi, Khulna bowler bundled out the host team only for 130 in 54.5 overs and took a 14-run lead with scoring 144 for four in 34.1 overs at the end of the day-1 at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
The port-city Chittagong scored 270 for eight in 90 overs when the bails were drawn for the first-day at Chittagong Divisional Stadium.
Opted to bat first, Dhaka openers Javed Omar and Rashedul Haq put 120 runs for the first wicket stand before Rashedul (59 off 96 with eight four and two sixes) was cleaned bowled by Sajib.
Javed paired with one-down Al Shahriar Rokon added another 91 runs for the second wicket stand before Rokon was caught to Anisur off a Arif delivery scoring 53 off 66 balls that included six fours and two sixes.
After departure of two batsmen, Dhaka faced a massive collapse losing six batsman including Ashraful, Khaled Mahmud, Mohammad Rafique and Sanwar Hossain just for 53 runs with scoreboard showing 274 for eight.
Anwar Hossain Monir and Shahadat Hossain Razib played like natural batsmen putting 56 runs for the ninth wicket stand. Razib hammered 37 off 36 balls whacking seven boundaries and Monir made 17 off 43 balls featuring three fours.
Occasional spinner Hannan Sarker was the most Barisal successful bowler claiming five wickets for 58 runs while pacer Sajid Islam took three for 68 runs.
Shahriar Nafees (9) and Humayun Kabir (15) remained unbeaten at the end of the day.
After being put into bat first, except Jahurul Islam and Farhad Reza, no Rajshahi batsmen succeeded in resisting trio visiting bowers -- pacers SK Rasel, Ziaur Rahman and spinner Abdur Razzak Raj -- who shared 10 wickets to wrap the hosts cheaply.
Two-down Farhad Reza hit the highest 32 off 52 balls featuring six fours while Jahurul was one run short to Reza knocking 120 balls that included four fours.
Both the players also put 54 runs for the third wickets stand after Ziaur returned back two Rajshahi batsman on team's five runs.
Rasel grabbed four wickets for 17 while Zia and Raj took three wickets each giving away 26 and 27 runs respectively.
National and Khulna skipper Habibul Bashar remained unbeaten on 82 off 88 balls that included 13 fours while Manjarul Islam along with Bashar will bat on the second-day with unbeaten 16.
Decided to bat first, Chittagong were reeling at 72 for four as they lost Sajid (1), Nafis (19), Nazim (34) and Aftab (15).
But, Ehsanul and Wasseluddin Ahmed rescued the port-city adding 151 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Wassel was trapped lbw by Hasibul Hossain, who removed Ehasanul trapping for leg before.
Ehsanul topscored with 75 off 185 with seven fours while Wassel made 71 off 160 balls that included nine fours.
Yasin Arafat and Tareq Aziz were batting with nine and 11 respectively at the end of the day. Hasibul Hossain grabbed three wickets for 56 while Ashiqur Rahman took two wickets for 17 runs.
