12/26/2005

SHANGHAI, Dec 25 (CEIS): China's investment this year may outgrow that in 2004, allowing for price factors, to reach a level next only to that in 2003 since 1993, said Ji Fengxiang, director of Statistics Bureau of Fixed Assets Investment of the National Bureau of Statistics.
He warned against the rebounding of investment.
He said that fixed assets investment reached 22.3 trillion yuan by the end of the third quarter of this year, up 27.2 per cent over that in the same 2004 period. Although the nominal growth of investment was lower than that in 2004, the actual growth would be higher than that in 2004. The investment price index was 5.6 per cent in 2004 with investment actually growing 19.4 per cent, 6.1 per cent in the third quarter of 2004 with investment growing 20.4 per cent, and 1.6 per cent in the first three quarters of this year with investment actually growing 24 per cent.
