DCC has to boost its own income
12/28/2005

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has to boost its own income to make the sprawling city a modern capital, LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan told a function in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
Refuting DCC Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka's remark that there has been no rise in taxes since he took over, the LGRD Minister said, "No, refraining from increasing taxes is not right. One has to pay for the services. Foreign and central government aids are not enough."
They were addressing a function organised at DCC auditorium on the occasion of distributing Dhaka City Medal-2004. The recipients of the medals are Editor of Begum, Noorjahan Begum (literature and culture), Dhaka Ahsania Mission (health service), Nirapad Sarak Chai (social welfare) and Wari Club (sports).
"It's true Dhaka city's problems know no bounds. Even then Dhaka is now a more beautiful city than before and if everybody becomes conscious many problems will go," Mannan Bhuiyan told the function.
