Hasina for resisting change of policy on women empowerment
2/28/2006

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League Chief Sheikh Hasina called upon the women to resist the government for changing the policy on women empowerment taken by the Awami League (AL) government when it was in power, reports UNB.
"You have to be conscious of your rights and you have to resist the government for this change," she urged the women when leaders of Mohila League, women front of the AL, called on the party chief at her residence on the occasion of its 37th founding anniversary.
"We have established the rights of women but this alliance government is ignoring the women's right," the AL president told her party activists.
In the morning the Mohila League leaders placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi.
Marking the day, the organisation brought out a procession from Bangabandhu Museum that ended in front of Hasina's Sudha Sadan residence.
AL leader Sajeda Chow-dhury, Motia Chowdhury, Mohila League acting president Ashrafunessa Mosharraf, general secretary Fazilatun-nesa Indera, among others, took part in the procession.
