Fire incidents gut properties worth Tk 4.0m in Chittagong

          CHITTAGONG, Jan 13 (BDNEWS): Five fire incidents during the Eid holidays gutted dwelling houses and shops causing damage worth about Tk 4.0 million in different parts of the port city.
Fire service sources said a devastating fire that broke out at city's Bheramara Chaktai at 3:50 am Thursday gutted ten different of shops and other stores valued at Tk 3.0 million.
The fire originating from an electric short circuit in one of the shops lasted three hours and engulfed the adjoining market place, which housed hotel, pharmacy and stores of rice and firewood.
No casualty was reported in the fire that was doused by four fire fighting units at 6:50 am.
In another fire that broke out in three colonies near Tulatoli Baby Super Market at almost the same time on the day of Eid-ul-Azha burnt nearly 200 rooms, mostly used by the working class people.
The fire that originated from an electric short circuit gutted the dwelling houses of Ashif, Nabi Farid and Motin colonies,
Four fire fighting units put out the flame at 5:00 am. The fire broke out at 3:10 am.
Fire service people estimated the loss on account of fire at over Tk .40 million.
The third fire incident in a market adjacent to Bengura Railway Station under Patiya Upazila at around 10 pm Wednesday gutted different shops and caused an estimated damage of over Tk 0.20 million.
The fourth fire in Sakib Master market place at Pahartoli Segunbagicha that broke out at 3:15 am Wednesday gutted four shops and destroyed assets worth nearly Tk 0.15 million.
The last fire which broke out from an oven in a house owned by Yunus Mia Wednesday night also burnt goods worth about Tk 50,000.
