Three local firms that have been producing hand-made papers and paper products will take part in a five-day paper world trade fair-2005 in Frankfort of Germany. Nandan, Socio-Economic Development Society, (SEDS) and Creation Private Limited from Bangladesh will participate in the fair that will begin from January 26. Job Opportunities and Business Support (JOBS), a USAID-funded project implemented by the IRIS Centre at the University of Maryland, is facilitating participation in the fair. The fair is expected to open new international markets for hand-made papers and paper products. The JOBS has trained more than 300 people and provided them with jobs. A total of 1,000 workers, including 90 per cent of them women, are now employed in the sector. — BSS
