President Iajuddin Ahmed said Tuesday that Bangladesh and Finland need to identify areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, commerce and investment, reports UNB. "There should be more visits at all levels between the two countries to give a boost to bilateral relations," Iajuddin said when newly appointed New Delhi-based Ambassador of Finland to Bangladesh Asko Numminen presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban. During the meeting, Ambassador Asko Numminen said Bangladesh has good future, especially in respect to ICT and software, and underscored the need for linkage on education, ICT and software between the two countries. "Bangladesh values Finland as an important member of the EU where it plays a pivotal role. Bangladesh counts on continued support and cooperation from Finland in pushing forward Bangladesh interests for obtaining greater economic and trade facilities from the EU," Iajuddin said. He requested the envoy to take initiatives to open a resident mission in Bangladesh for intensifying further the bilateral relations and cooperation. Earlier, the Ambassador was given a guard of honour by the President's Guard Regiment (PGR) on his arrival at Bangabhaban. He took salute and inspected the parade.
