DSE directors' election today
FE Report
1/30/2006

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) will hold directors' election today (Monday).
It will elect four board members for the highest policy-making body of the country's main bourse for the 2006-2008 term.
A total of 209 voters will cast their votes from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm without any break.
The five bourse-members contesting the election are Anwar Hossain, Sharif Ataur Rahman, Abdullah Bokhari, Shahed Abdul Khaleque and Azizul Haque.
The new directors will be elected to replace the same number of policy-makers in the present board of directors.
As per DSE constitution, a director is elected for a three-year term. So every year four of the directors retire on completion of their respective three-year terms from its top decision-making body and election takes place to elect the same number of directors for the vacant posts.
This year, four directors, Feroz Khan, Rafiqul Islam, Saiful Islam and Mujibur Rahman will retire.
A three-member election commission has been formed to conduct the polls. MA Baqui Khalily is acting as the chief election commissioner, while Md Sahidullah and TA Zearat Ali are the commissioners.
DSE's next annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on February 7 to formally induct the newly elected directors.
