'Strengthen govt initiated move to combat AIDS in border areas'
10/1/2005

The government-initiated inter-ministerial approach to combat HIV/AIDS should be strengthened in the border areas to combat the fatal disease.
The speakers observed this at a workshop on 'Advocacy and Sensitisation on Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Youths and Adolescents' held at Shaheed Zia Hall in Khulna Monday, reports BSS.
Padakhhep, a non- government organisation, organised the workshop.
Khulna Mayor Sheikh Taiyebur Rahman spoke as the chief guest on the occasion, while Divisional Commissioner Abdul Malek was in the chair. Padakhhep Executive Director Iqbal Ahmed gave a welcome address.
Taiyebur Rahman called upon all concerned to remain alert against the fatal disease and help youths and adolescents so that they can save themselves from the disease.
Abdul Malek said HIV test of foreigners should be done before giving them permission to enter the country.
