Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina said Wednesday this failed government has no right to stay in power, reports BDNEWS.
She said law and order has deteriorated and people's life has become intolerable as they are suffering from oppression.
Hasina said price of essentials has gone beyond the reach of common people and the Prime Minister herself admitted the government failure in maintenance of law and order and control of prices of essentials.
The AL president further said that only resignation of the alliance government could brighten the future of the country.
These views of the Leader of the Opposition came when leaders of the Sharbojanin Puja Celebration Committee met her at the AL Dhanmondi office.
She said the targets of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government are Awami League and the Hindu community.
Hasina said the alliance government has been continuing oppression to decimate the Awami League since 2001. They created unprecedented situation across the country, she said.
Hasina told them that 'monga' and famine are stalking the northern region. She said even in the holy month of Ramadan people are unable to procure their meals as prices of essential commodities have gone up much.
The opposition leader also told them the Prime Minister had last of all admitted that there were terrorists who were blasting bombs.
Among the committee leaders Major General (retd) CR Dutta, Debopriya Bhattachariya, Chittaranjan Majumder, Nim Chandra Bhowmik, Subrata Chowdhury and Monindra Kumar Nath spoke, among others, at the meeting.
Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil, presidium members Abdur Razzak, Tofail Ahmed, Motia Chowdhury and Surunjit Sengupta were present.
Earlier, Sramik League leaders called on Sheikh Hasina at her residence on the occasion of 36th founding anniversary of the front organisation.
The Awami League president said the government has closed many industries leaving workers unemployed. She accused the BNP cadres of even looting relief goods.
