LONDON, Nov 8 (AFP): The interests of developing countries must remain at the top of the agenda in World Trade Organisation talks, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath said yesterday.
"The WTO is not merely about free trade but fair trade," Nath told journalists ahead of a crucial meeting in London with counterparts from Brazil, the European Union, Japan and the United States.
"Where India and other developing countries are concerned, there is one goal, and that's making it a successful development round."
Nath later kicked off closed-door talks with US Trade Representative Rob Portman, Brazil's Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson and Japanese Trade Minister Toshihiro Nikai at the Indian embassy.
