Price indices rise at both bourses

          Price indices on the country's both bourses increased Tuesday as trading began after a recess of seven days.
The price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose although the losing issues outnumbered the gaining ones. The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, also increased on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1295.62 points, registering 10.06 points or 0.78 per cent gain from 1285.56 points of Monday last week, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index increased by 13.05 points or 0.77 per cent to close at 1707.66 points from 1694.62 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index went up by 5.31 points or 0.32 per cent to close at 1683.33 points from 1668.02 points.
About 4.16 million shares and debentures worth Tk 279.29 million changed hands on the day against 2.73 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 207.74 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 151 issues were traded on the day including 55 gainers, 73 losers and 23 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 229.14 billion from Tk 227.66 billion.
City Bank performed as the top trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 37,015 shares valued at Tk 29.36 million changed hands. The price of the issue rose by 6.58 per cent to close at Tk 805.75. Its price fluctuated between Tk 815.00 and Tk 764.00 on the day.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also gained on the day although the losers surpassed the gainers in number.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, however, fell on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index moved up by 0.69 per cent to finish at 3433.73 points from 3410.21 points of Monday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index gained by 0.48 per cent to close at 3239.61 points from 3224.12 points.
A total of 1.03 million shares and debentures worth Tk 52.24 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 1.62 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 52.89 million of Monday.
