An elderly professor of Rajshahi University (RU) was stabbed to death by miscreants at Binodpur near the university campus Friday. Prof Mohammad Yunus (65), of Economics department and former RU Registrar, was attacked by some unknown assailants when he came out from his house for morning walk at about 6:20 am after offering Fazr prayers. Campus sources said the miscreants stabbed on his chest, belly, head and other parts of the body and also hit him with iron rods after tying his mouth with a 'gamchha'. Later, the miscreants left his body on the spot, about 200 yards away from his residence. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained immediately. — UNB
