RAJSHAHI, Dec 25: General Manager of Sonali Bank's Rajshahi division Khatib Nazrul Islam gave assurance Sunday that the loan facilities of Sonali Bank for the disabled people would be extended if admissible by the related rule of the loan scheme.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the Annual General Meeting-2005 organised by the National Grassroot Disabled Federation(NGDF) held at the training centre of the Action on Disability Development(ADD), Rajshahi.
President of NGDF Akhter Hossain presided over the meeting while Country Representative of ADD, Bangladesh Mosharraf Hossain was present in the meeting as the main discussant.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by Fayaz Uddin Ahmed, Human Rights officer of ADD, and Umme Kulsum Ranzana.
Khatib Nazrul also said he would request the Bangladesh Bank Governor through Sonali Bank to issue bank currencies of various denominations with special marks for the disabled people, especially for visually-impaired people, so that they could identify those currencies easily.
He also urged private and state-run banks to come forward for the welfare of the disabled people. He assured the visually-impaired people that he would direct the concerned branch managers to help them open bank accounts without any harassment.
