HRC launches clone tea in domestic mkt

          HRC officially launched its clone tea in the domestic market at a function in the city Sunday.
Having started marketing tea abroad in 1993, HRC is the first such company making its journey formally.
The clone tea will be available in 200-gramme packet worth Tk 34 and in 400-gramme packet worth Tk 66, it was revealed at the launching ceremony of the product by the HRC Group in the city Sunday.
Presided over by Mohammad Idris, executive director of HRC Tea, the launching ceremony was also addressed by HRC Tea Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abu Sayeed Raza and DGM Khondoker Mortoza Ali.
HRC has its eight depots and 234 distributors across the country to distribute the product.
Of the total 22 million packet tea produced annually in Bangladesh HRC produces seven per cent of them.
Its sale has increased 250 per cent over the last five years and it has occupied the second position in terms of the total volume of production in the country.
Last year, HRC's accounted for 33 per cent of the total tea export of the country but now it is focussing on domestic demand.
Over the years HRC won five gold medals and two silver medals from the government for its outstanding performance not only in terms of volume but also in terms of high quality tea production in the country.
