FE Report

An international conference entitled "Impact of global issues on women and children" jointly hosted by the State University of Bangladesh (SUB) and the McMaster University of Canada concluded Thursday.
The five-day conference began at a city hotel on February 12, said a press release.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Khurshed Jahan Hoque attended the closing ceremony.
While speaking at the ceremony she said the government has attained enough success in reducing maternal and infant mortality and managed to improve the women's status through providing free-education to girls up to HSC level. Yet, it cannot be denied that there is a lot to be done to get our women and children prepared up to the world standard, she added.
She thanked the SUB and the McMaster University for organising such an international conference.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Asaduzzaman and Dhaka University vice chancellor SMA Faiz were present on the occasion as special guests while SUB acting vice chancellor MS Ilyas Dhami was in the chair.
