Malaysia monitoring inflation ahead of policy meet
2/8/2006

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (AFP): Malaysia's central bank said Tuesday it was closely monitoring inflation, which rose substantially last year, ahead of a Bank Negara policy meeting next week.
"Policy will depend on the outlook for inflation. That is why we will monitor not only the consumer price index (CPI), but also the other indicators of inflation," Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz said.
She said the central bank would make an announcement on the inflation outlook and the impact for interest rates after the monetary policy meeting scheduled for February 17.
