President Iajuddin Ahmed stressed on reducing the trade gap between Bangladesh and Nigeria. The President expressed his satisfaction at the growing bilateral trade between the two countries. President Iajuddin said this when newly appointed Nigerian High Commissioner Abu Bakar Garba Abdullah presented his credentials to him at the Bangabhaban in the city Wednesday, reports BDNEWS. Welcoming the High Commissioner, Iajuddin Ahmed expressed his satisfaction at the cordial relations existing between the two countries. The President highlighted Bangladesh's commitment to upholding international peace and stability in the south Asian region. Iajuddin also stressed on cooperation between Bangla-desh and Nigeria through exchange of delegations of teachers, engineers and doctors and people to people contact. The President said the teachers and students at university level of both the countries should have wider contact for knowing each other better. He said Nigeria can import Bangladeshi export items including melamine, leather goods, medicine etc. He extended invitation to Nigerian President to visit Bangladesh in future. Newly appointed High Commissioner based in New Delhi Abu Bakar Garba Abdullah recalled the existing friendly bilateral relations between Nigeria and Bangladesh. He said that both the countries were committed to establish international peace and work together in different international forums including UN peacekeeping mission. Earlier, on his arrival at the Bangabhaban, the High Commissioner was given a guard of honour by the President's guard regiment. He took salute and inspected the guard.
