Police arrest leader of outlawed party

          JHENIDAH, Mar. 17: A top leader of an outlawed party was arrested from Chandpara village in Chowgachha Thana of Jessore district Friday. The arrested was identified as Shamsul Islam alias Sumon (36), a top leader of Janajuddha faction of Purba Banglar Communist Party. Acting on a tip-off, Kotchandpur thana police of Jhenidah raided the area and nabbed Sumon. —UNB.

CHUADANGA, Mar 17: The police seized over 1000 different kinds of birds from the at Higolgari village under Sadar Upazila Monday. The police said there was a clash between two rival groups of bird hunters in the same village following hunting of 1000 birds by one group. Being informed, a team of police of Higolgari Police Camp rushed to the spot and seized the hunted birds and released them. —BSS
One to die for
killing wife
NETROKONA, Mar 17: A man was sentenced to death here Wednesday by a special tribunal for killing his wife for dowry in Mohonganj Upazila three years ago. The convict was identified as Sultan Miah (35), son of Motiur Rahman of Alokdia village in the Upazila. —UNB
