CCCI emphasises integrated effort for CP's uplift

CHITTAGONG, March 16: Co-ordinated effort of the government and the port-users is imperative to improve the Chittagong port (CP) and upgrade its status to that of other modern ports of the world, observed the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury.
He made this observation while taking over his newly assigned charge as the Port Users Forum's Chairman recently.
Development of the entire country is closely connected with the CP's uplift as the port greatly contributes towards the government's revenue earning, he added.
CCCI President said, as he cherishes transparency and accountability in conducting the CCCI's affairs, he would follow the same strategy in activating his drive in settling the problems, related to the Port Users Forum.
He also urged all concerned to work together beyond all political affiliations for the port's overall development.
CCCI Senior Vice President SM Kamrul Haque in his address said, CCCI would remain ever vigilant in preserving the port-users' rights, as it did in the past.
CCCI Vice President MA Latif said, Chittagong would be lagging far behind, unless Chittagong Port and Shah Amanat Airport are brought under private management.
BSAA Chairman Pervez Sazzad Akter and BMSA President AHM Monzoor Alam also addressed on the occasion among others.
