Ballseye!

It took some time for people to understand why Virender Sehwag was stoutly defending his captain Sourav Ganguly in spite of the fact that the Indian skipper was the only extra baggage that the Indian team has, not that it cannot afford one right now against the beleaguered Pakistanis. Viru Sehwag has already started wearing the captain's cap in front of the mirror. So what happens after Ganguly is politely asked to look for lucrative jobs in other fields like commentating for instance not that he needs the money? Story has it that Ganguly is a very, very rich man. Well, they start to look for a new captain and maybe get one extra player in the Test squad (it could be Dhoni or Yuvraj; Kaif may have to wait forever). Viru Sehwag thinks, nay, knows after his public show of faith in his captain, Ganguly will put in a kind word so that the Indian board knows which direction to look in the hunt for a new leader. Sehwag knows if someone like Tendulkar or even Dravid gets the job he will have to wait another five or so years.
Even though the Indians made a mountain of runs at Vishakapatnam Ganguly had little part to play in it once again getting out cheaply. And with the ball? Nah! He just wants to be captain although his grin after the win resembled Frankenstein's.
So will Tendulkar be overlooked once again when Ganguly departs after this series? It'll be a pity if he is. This is Tendulkar's team and at least he'll be a captain who'll not waddle when he walks. The wins against Pakistan or even Bangladesh had very little to do with Ganguly. On the other hand Ganguly may actually make apologist Sehwag wait a few years more as he basks in the glory of the Indian victory binge.
Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar is reportedly trying to convince the Pakistani board that they not only need a strike force like him to turn it around but also a new man at the helm, him. Any takers?
