The government has appointed Special Branch chief Abdul Quayum as new Inspector General of Police (IGP). Quayum replaces IGP Ashraful Huda whose brief contract job as police chief came to an end Wednesday. "He (Quayum) is likely to take over the office of IGP today (Thursday)," a competent source said. — UNB
