The government has appointed Additional Inspector General of Police Mohammad Hadis Uddin as the new IGP, it was reliably learnt Thursday. President Iajuddin Ahmed has signed the official papers promoting Hadis Uddin, who has been working as Additional IGP (Administration), to the rank of IGP, a home ministry source told the news agency. He succeeds Ashraful Huda, who went on retirement Wednesday, on expiry of his contract as IGP. —UNB
