The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will help implement a project titled "Establishment of Bangladesh-Korea ICT Training Centre for Education (BKITCE)" at Bangladesh Bureau of Education Information and Statistics (BANBEIS) in the city. KOICA Resident Representative in Bangladesh Lee Jung Wook and BANBEIS Director Muhammad Elias Ali Thursday signed a record of discussions in this respect on behalf of their respective organisations. The project will be implemented during 2006-2008 with the Korean government's technical assistance and financial grant of almost $1.5 million (15 lakh). The Korean government, through this project, will modernise the facilities of BANBEIS, establish computer training laboratories with latest ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and GIS (Global Information System) equipment, invite Bangladesh officials for training in Korea and send Korean experts here.
