BNP leadership directly involved in Bangabandhu killing: Hasina
8/14/2006

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina alleged that the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leadership was 'directly involved' in the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The AL president allegedly said this while addressing a discussion on 'Killing of Bangabandhu and Today's Bangladesh' organised by the Bangabandhu Parishad at the Institute of Engineers auditorium in the city Sunday, reports BDNEWS.
President of the parishad SA Malek presided over the discussion.
Hasina in her speech said the killers were brought into Bangladesh with fake pass ports.
The former prime minister also urged the international community to stop the on-going war in Lebanon.
"The BNP-Jamaat alliance have been patronising the killers by providing them a lavish life. One of the killers Major Nur was brought to Bangladesh using fake passport," she said.
"The BNP-Jamaat government is patronising the killers. Does this patronisation not prove that they are directly involved in the killing of Bangabandhu?, Hasina posed a question.
On Lebanon war, the AL chief said, "I urge the UN and the international community to stop the war and killing of innocent people in Lebanon. Stop the war and arms race".
