Power production can be raised by 331mw within two months : CBA
8/20/2006

The Bangladesh National Power Workers-Employees Union, a collective bargaining agent (CBA), Saturday said, a right decision could increase the country's electricity generation by 331-megawatt within two months and ease the present power crisis, reports BDNEWS.
The pro-BNP CBA leaders, at a press conference in the city Saturday, alleged that indecision, dilly-dallying and appointments of wrong people at wrong places are hindering the electricity production.
General Secretary of Sramik Dal and the CBA Zafrul Hasan read out a written speech at the conference.
He said, only three thousand people had been working in PDB's different power plants against more than five thousand posts. Over two thousand posts had been lying vacant for more than one decade.
He also said, if enough human resources were employed, extra 10-megawatt of electricity could be produced within two months at the Siddwirganj Power Plant, the present production of which was 50-megawatt.
In addition to the Siddwirganj power plant, 50 mw power could also be produced at the Kaptai Power Plant, 10 mw at Shikalbaha, 30 mw at Shahajibazar, 15 mw at Fenchuganj, 70 mw at Ashuganj, 45 mw at Khulna, 20 mw at Bheramara and 81 mw at Baghabari power plants, he added.
