Petrobangla adds 20m mmcfd gas to national grid
1/5/2005

Petrobangla has started supplying 20 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) to the national gas grid from its newly developed well in Fenchuganj gas field. The Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) put the well (no.3) into operation Monday, sources said. With the inclusion of this, the total production capacity from this gas field now stands at 40 mmcfd as Petrobangla injected another 20 mmcfd to the gas grid from well no.1 in May last. BAPEX started drilling this new well last February with its own manpower and equipment and reached its target level of 3,056 metres within 97 days. Fenchuganj gas field was discovered in 1981. Petrobangla is now supplying 1368 mmcfd gas to the national grid against the demand of about 1550 mmcfd. — FE Report
