Shibir seeks new recruits thru' its coaching centres
10/14/2005

Islami Chattra Shibir (ICS), student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, has allegedly been running its numerous coaching centres in the city to look for new recruits, reports
BDNEWS.
The Shibir activists have chosen this means following resistance from the progressive student organisations.
Sources said Shibir is carrying out its activities through 12 university and medical coaching centres operated by the high-level policy makers of the party across the country.
Of the coaching centres conducted by Shibir, Focus for the Dhaka University, Concrete for the BUET, Index for the Chittagong University, Success for the Islamic University, Songshaptak for the Jahangirnagar University and Retina for medical colleges are identified as their main coaching centres.
Sources said Shibir's political activities that include new recruitment are carried out by nearly 150 branches of these coaching centres, where the Shibir men are imparting lessons relating to fanaticism.
Sources said that the annual income of these 12 coaching centres is about Tk 250 million (Tk 25 crore) which are being spent for spreading their activities including arms training to the Shibir activists.
It is also alleged that the coaching centres allure the poor and meritorious students to get coaching free of cost and they force them to pursue Jamaat politics.
